Privacy Policy

draftmend is a ChatGPT app that helps you improve documents. We process only what you explicitly share in a session. Your document content is processed only as needed by ChatGPT, draftmend's hosted MCP/API server, and draftmend's hosting infrastructure to provide the document review and export workflow. We do not build profiles, sell data, or use document content for advertising.

1. What we process

When you use draftmend inside ChatGPT, the following data may be processed to deliver the service:

Document content - text from the file you share in the conversation, used solely to generate review feedback and staged edits.
Revision decisions - which suggested edits you accept, reject, or modify, used to produce your final document.
Export requests - format choice (DOCX or PDF) and any light edits you make in the widget before export.

We do not collect your name, email, account details, or any information beyond what is necessary to perform the document review you request.

2. How we use it

Data processed during a session is used exclusively to:

Analyze your document and generate targeted improvement suggestions.
Stage and apply the edits you approve.
Produce your exported DOCX or PDF file.

draftmend does not use your document content to train AI models, build advertising profiles, or sell data. Document content is shared only with the services needed to run the user-requested workflow, including ChatGPT/OpenAI and draftmend's hosting infrastructure.

3. Data retention

draftmend uses temporary storage only.

Controlled temporary import files are deleted immediately after read during normal operation, and within up to 1 hour if immediate cleanup cannot complete.

Parsed temporary document state is retained for up to 1 hour so you can review, apply, export, or delete edits during the active workflow.

Generated DOCX and PDF exports are retained temporarily for download and expire within up to 1 hour.

Operational logs may be retained for up to 30 days for reliability, abuse prevention, and debugging. Logs do not contain raw document text.

4. The ChatGPT platform

draftmend operates as a ChatGPT app under the OpenAI Apps SDK. Your conversation, uploaded files, and session data are also subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. Please review OpenAI's policy for details on how ChatGPT itself stores and processes conversation data.

5. Service providers and processors

draftmend uses OpenAI/ChatGPT to provide the app experience and uses hosting infrastructure to run draftmend's MCP/API server, temporary storage, and download endpoints.

In V1, draftmend does not use third-party document parsing, OCR, analytics, advertising, payment, email, CRM, or long-term document-management processors.

draftmend does not send, publish, email, or sync your documents to external destinations. If processors are added in the future, this policy will be updated before those changes are released.

6. Your rights

Because draftmend does not maintain persistent user accounts or long-term document storage, most draftmend document data expires automatically. You can also ask draftmend to delete a temporary document and its exports during the active workflow. ChatGPT/OpenAI data is governed separately by OpenAI's policies and controls.

7. Security

Data in transit is encrypted via TLS. We follow standard security practices appropriate for a session-scoped document processing service. We do not store credentials or payment information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. Because draftmend does not collect user accounts or contact information, we have no means to notify users individually of changes. Material updates will be reflected in the revised effective date at the top of this page at draftmend.com/privacy. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of draftmend after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
